In a country full of creative people, cooking up something original is a daunting task. Restaurants cropping up at every corner make it essential to have a specialty in order to standout. And this is what Burgers & Brewskies has done. It looked deep, searched wide and came up with what makes people tick: bacon.
4 ways how Burgers & Brewskies harnessed the power of bacon:
1. Bacon in appetizers.
Burgers & Brewskies’ Starting Line has the usual fries, chips, sausages and even a salad to start off your meal. But, what must be had is the Bacon Chicharon (P210). These are crispy thin slices of pork belly served with a spicy vinegar dip. Once you start munching on one of these, you’ll find yourself reaching for another one. And another one. And one more…
2. Bacon in burgers.
Made of 100% US beef patties, these 1/3 pound burgers are sure to fill up any tummy. There are fifteen types of burgers to choose from and those with bacon are the house’s bestsellers: Kandi (P265), Call the Nurse (P280) and Walk of Shame (P340).
3. Bacon in desserts
What’s better than crispy bacon? Chocolate-coated crispy bacon. I, too, was doubtful at first but when I took a bite of that sinful strip, I was convinced. At first, my senses were confounded: my eyes saw chocolate but I was tasting bacon. And then they somehow met inside my mouth – the smooth, slightly melted chocolate paving the way for the rough, crunchy, salty bacon. Yum! Yeah, I enjoyed that one too much.
Mais c’est pas fini! There’s also the Creamy Soy Panna Cotta (P85), topped with spiced candied bacon bits, and Chef (P150), vanilla ice cream coated with spiced chocolate powder then also topped with bacon bits. While the first one tasted weird to me, I loved the second one: every good thing there is, served in a cup. Aptly called “Happy Ending”.
4. Bacon in drinks
Say what? Uh-huh, Burgers & Brewskies has concocted creative cocktails and a couple of them contain bacon: This Little Piggy Went to the Bar (P200) and Bacon Berry Pancakes (P220). I didn’t get the chance to try the latter but The Little Piggy is a real must try.
Although bacon is for a lot of people, it is still not for everyone. That is why Burgers & Brewskies offers a ton more food to tease every taste bud. Hence I present to you my Buy & Boo list:
a. B&B Nachos (P240) – Nacho chips with picadillo meat, fresh tomato salsa, nacho cheese sauce, pickled jalapeños and sour cream.
b. B&B Sausage Platter (P585) – Grilled Bavarian Smokies, Hungarian and Thuringer Bratwurst served with B&B curry ketchup and spiced mustard aioli.
c. Buffalo Balls – Takes the hassle of deboning chicken wings while keeping all the goodness of the beloved buffalo wings.
d. S.P.F. (P65) – Sweet Potato Fries with a secret spice mix that works really well to mask the sweet potato taste.
e. Angry Korean (P205) – Chicken wings cooked in Gochujang chili paste mixed with soy sauce, honey and sesame.
f. Cuban Missile (P120) – grilled corn, slathered with mayo and spiced shredded cheese.
g. B&B Chocolate Pudding (P105) – Rich dark chocolate custard topped with crunchy cinnamon oatmeal streusel.
h. Chocnut Martini (P180) – No need for explanation.
a. Chili Cheese Fries (P125) – Just like all your average fries.
b. Fish Poppers (P220) – Fried tempura-style sea bream nuggets, served with steak fries and chipotle aioli.
c. Avocado Fries – I am not a fan of avocados and these did nothing to change that. They tasted bitter and the whole thing was too oily for me. But, the dip tasted good.
d. Hector Salamanca (P240) – B&B chili oil, B&B cheese sauce, jalapeño cream, tomato salsa and crisp nacho strips. This burger’s patty is super spicy!
e. Holy Guacamole (P250) – available this season only.
f. Don’t Have a Cow! (P190) – For vegetarians. Made up of red lentil, roasted garlic aioli, sautéed shitake mushrooms.
And that’s it! The next time you’re craving for bacon, head over to Burger & Brewskies and indulge.
